Gelato is Italian/Sicilian style ice cream where they don't use eggs or cream in this dessert, but focus on using milk and water. The purity of the water depends on how sweet the gelato will be. If it's more of a purified water from the United States, it's going to taste completely different from if you try to get it in Italy or Sicily. Italy has the ability to have fresh water from the mountains, whereas in the states we use purified water which isn't exactly the same quality.
When I have gelato here in the United States I can tell that there is a clear difference from when I have it when I'm in Sicily. It's thicker here than it is back in Sicily. My Nonna and Nonno have a house in Sicily and live next to a gelato shop, I would have it every night and try something new each time. I liked it a lot there because it was light and soft and didn't make you feel heavy after eating it like ice cream does.
I give this classic delicious dessert 5/5 meatballs.

In Italy, if someone happened to want an ice cream sandwich, it wouldn't be served on the traditional cookie wafers, it would be served between a brioche bun. It complements each other and isn't overpowering with sugar like it is here in America.
