Struffoli is a dessert that originated in Naples and is made around Christmas time. Struffoli consists of fried dough balls that are glazed with honey, fruits, sprinkles, and nuts. This dessert is very easy to make with very few ingredients. The dough is made up of egg yolks, flour, and sugar that is then mixed up and rolled like a snake to then be cut into little balls. After that, they are placed in boiling oil and come out on a paper towel to be patted dry. The dough balls are then tossed in honey, sprinkled with dried fruits, covered in sprinkles, and dashed with nuts.
I made this with my Nonna over Christmas break and it was so much fun, it's also best served hot, otherwise the balls stick together. This dish based on taste I will give a 3/5 meatballs. The experience of making it with my Nonna was definitely 5/5 meatballs.
